About Corey:
Corey J. Peloquin, a new teacher mentor for the School District of Hillsborough County, believes that technology integration is a fundamental necessity for student education. Corey recognizes that educators are charged with the task of preparing students to solve problems and prepare for jobs, most of which do not exist currently.
Corey earned his BS from Eckerd College and his M.Ed. in adminstration/supervision from National Louis University. In December, 2009, Corey was selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as one of forty recipients to receive a fellowship as part of the NASA Endeavor Teaching Certificate Program - a program specifically designed for highly qualified science teachers to learn STEM based science curriculum integration in partnership with Columbia University.
Corey's passion to educate, high standards for success, and determination have led him to aspire to become a Superintendent of schools. Corey strives to help guide education stakeholders in making the greatest impact on student achievement. Corey was recognized in 2005 as Madeira Beach Middle School's Teacher of the Year. Corey was also recognized by parents and students as a Disney Teacher of the Year nominee for 2005 - 2006. In 2009, Corey was recognized as Coleman Middle School's "PRISM Excellence In Teaching Science" Teacher and also the School District of Hillsborough County's PRISM Science Teacher of Excellence Teacher of the Year. Corey is also a nominee for the United States Presidential Award for Excellence In Science Teaching.
Currently, Corey not only serves as a new teacher mentor as part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Grant (Empowering Effective Teachers) awarded to the School District of Hillsborough County, but assists administrators and offers technological assistance to teachers. He also creates and conducts science technology professional development workshops for middle school science teachers in the School District of Hillsborough County, the eighth largest school district in the United States, and other districts throughout the nation. Corey created Techno Savvy Teacher in June, 2008 after identifying a great need for high quality, research based, educational technology professional development. |
